Respectful Behaviours

Women's and children's safety and wellbeing will be at the core but a focus on long-term social and cultural change to censure Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence (DFSV) is central to the project aims.

 

The project will challenge cultural mis-information that leads to acceptance of ‘lateral violence’ which is a common denominator of DFSV in remote Aboriginal communities. Lateral violence is not restricted to males but widely accepted by women to attribute blame to the victim rather that the perpetrator. Many will follow misconception ‘settle family way’ which in reality leaves the victim powerless and blamed for the perpetrator’s behaviour.
