Our Present
Yalu Aboriginal Corporation’s vision is to progress the health and well-being of Yolŋu in Galiwin'ku by fortifying Yolŋu Walŋa (well-being) rom (law), and culture through traditionally appropriate social programs, partnerships, and research. Yalu Aboriginal Corporation is an organisation established to nurture and support Yolŋu cultural practices and language for future generations, encompassing the core values of Yolŋu rom: harmony, sharing & respect. Drawing on the Yolŋu philosophy of interconnections, our programs aim to create a holistic and connected approach.
Our unique approach has resulted in Yalu being central to the community development of Galiwin'ku.
At Yalu Aboriginal Corporation we offer a range of programs and services for our whole community including youth, families and our elders. All of our programs have been created out of community identified needs and are underpinned with Yolŋu values and law.
Yalu's objective is to nurture and support Yolŋu cultural practices and language for future generations, encompassing the core values of Yolŋu rom: harmony, sharing & respect.
We are committed to working under strong transparent governance principles and leadership to deliver culturally appropriate programs with integrity and honesty which are Yolŋu driven.
Drawing on the Yolŋu philosophy of interconnectedness, our programs aim to create a holistic and connected approach. Our unique approach has resulted in Yalu being central to the community development of Galiwin’ku.
Yalu also works with research partners on community research which informs the provision of both our service and services within the community. This allows evidence based responses to community needs and enables our programs and other community services to constantly evolve to suit changing community circumstances.

Our Community
Kinship (Gurruṯu)
Yalu is obligated to always respect Yolŋu Gurruṯu. Yolngu Gurruṯu is the life source of Yolŋu culture. It flows throughout all Yolŋu culture, practices and protocols. Without Gurruṯu we would have no connection to each other, the land and its stories. Gurruṯu gives a Yolngu their place in the world there for having high importance.
Cultural Protocols and Cultural Integrity
We understand that relationships between Aboriginal and non-indigenous persons are important. We have a responsibility as a corporation to facilitate cultural exchange through our company’s programs, activities and engagement with inner community.
Strong Governance
We have our two strong governance in our Corporation Yolngu and Balanda and it is all driven by Yolngu. With kindest and respect work for the community with our heart.
